About ProjectCalc Australia

ProjectCalc Australia provides free, simple calculators designed to help Australians plan DIY, renovation, home improvement and landscaping projects.

The goal is to make everyday material calculations easier. Anyone who has stood in a hardware store wondering whether 10 litres of paint will finish the lounge room — or stared at a garden bed trying to convert footsteps into cubic metres of mulch — knows the feeling. The maths involved is usually simple, but getting it wrong costs time and money, so we do it properly, once, in a tool you can open on your phone.

Every calculator on this site is metric-first, built around the measurements Australians actually use: metres, square metres, cubic metres and litres. We state our assumptions plainly — standard door and window sizes, typical coverage rates, common material densities — so you can adjust them when your situation differs. Every result is an estimate, and every page says so.

What we're about

  • Free, always. Every calculator works without an account. Sign-in exists only for people who want to save projects — never to gate a calculation.
  • Honest numbers. We show the supporting working, explain the formulas in plain language, and round sensibly. If something varies by product or brand, we say so.
  • Built for real projects. Painting bedrooms, tiling bathrooms, filling raised veggie beds, pouring shed slabs. If a calculation doesn't help with a real job, it doesn't make the site.
  • Fast on your phone. Most people use these tools mid-project — in the aisle, in the yard. Pages stay light and inputs stay big.

How the site is supported

ProjectCalc Australia plans to be supported by unobtrusive display advertising. Ads will never sit inside calculator inputs, cover buttons, or interrupt a calculation. If they ever get in the way of the answer you came for, that's a bug — tell us at the contact page.

Suggestions welcome

The best calculator ideas come from people mid-project. If there's a material, unit or scenario we should cover, request a calculator — requests genuinely shape the roadmap.
